What is Affilorama?
Affilorama is an online-based training program for beginners in affiliate marketing.
Affilorama was founded in 2006 by New Zealander Mark Ling, one of the world’s best known and most reputable affiliate marketing professionals.
So, what is affiliate marketing?
What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing is a method of promoting the products of other companies in return for a commission on each sale that you generate. Businesses who promote products in this way are called “affiliates”.
Affiliate marketing is now an established marketing sector worldwide, worth billions of dollars in turnover and is continuing to grow fast.
Affilorama was started in 2006 by an affiliate marketer and ecommerce marketer in New Zealander called Mark Ling.
Mark Ling created Affilorama to help train his own affiliates to be successful with their marketing of his own products in their respective niches.
In addition to Affilorama, Mark markets a range of other products such as the “Rocket” series of foreign language courses, as well as other online courses such as Rocket Piano and Jamorama which are targeted at the musician niches.
What do you get with Affilorama?
Affilorama comes in both free and premium paid-for versions.
The free program of Affilorama consists of over 100 videos and podcasts which teach you the basics of website building, content creation, keyword research, and SEO.
The support runs via the online forum. Mark Ling himself posts or answers questions only occasionally, but there is a staff of online moderators available to answer questions and assist.
Affilorama focuses specifically on the needs of affiliate marketers. So if your business is affiliate marketing related then this will be an excellent program for you.
Even if you’re not an affiliate marketer, most of the marketing techniques taught by Affilorama will also be relevant to many other online businesses.
Affilorama does not asssume any previous knowledge of affiliate marketing or internet marketing. So this is a big plus if you are completely new to the field.
Affilorama offers you a number of different membership plans to choose between.
Affilorama offers a choice between Free and Premium Paid-For Membership

What I like most about Affilorama
Affilorama is very comprehensive and the material is all professionally produced.
The program covers a very wide range of techniques and strategies relevant to affiliate marketing.
The founder, Mark Ling, is a highly experienced affiliate marketer and a top-notch dependable guy who is dedicated to helping people achieve success online through running their own affiliate marketing business.
Affilorama has a lively support forum. There are also moderators who step in to provide help as needed. The questions people ask range from the very simple to more complex issues and questions usually get answered fairly quickly.
What I DON’T like about Affilorama
Some of the recommendations and techniques taught are now a little dated. For example the back link building strategy still being taught by Affilorama. Back linking in this way can lead to ranking penalties with Google nowadays.
Some of the content creation strategies should also be approached with caution.
For example the use of PLR (Private Label Rights) content, such as that provided by Affilorama for members to use. Deploying such content on an extensive basis can lead to duplicate content penalties with Google as this content will be published by other websites as well.
The so-called “Article Spinner” I find out of date. This rephrases the words and sentences in an article in order to create – or “spin” a new article. In other words, new instant content.
The problem is that nowadays Google knows all about the gentle art of “article spinning” and tends to apply penalties to content that is recognizes as “spun”. So that strategy can also backfire.
I also dislike that kind of web content. There’s already enough junk floating around out there on the web without adding to it by trying to rely on “article spinner” tools and PLR material.
So some of the techniques being taught by Affilorama look a little dated and are in need of an overhaul to my mind.
Affilorama can also be a little confusing as the system consists of a range of different training and web commerce development products.
Such as Affiloblueprint which mainly consists of a set of some 85 additional training videos covering topics such as how to select a niche, how to market products online and so on.
There is also a product called Affilojetpack which is a set of resources, including such things as Affilorama’s own WordPress theme called Affilotheme for building a website, plus graphics, various e-books and PLR articles.
I would have preferred it if these items had all been incorporated into the one membership.
My Verdict on Affilorama
Whilst I find some of the techniques taught by Affilorama a little out of date, Affilorama is definitely one of the better affiliate marketing training courses out there.
The material is professional and the know-how for the most part is reliable. It’s solid dependable stuff, even if it’s a little mainstream at times.
Premium Affilorama together with all the add-ons (Affiloblueprint, Affilojetpack etc) does not come cheap.
But if you are completely new to affiilate marketing, and you are looking for a solid grounding in techniques and strategy, then Affilorama Premium can be a good investment for you.
I did get a bit irritated by all the upsells you encounter in the program. Again, this is classic internet marketer guru behaviour. So you have to be aware of that.
But overall, Affilorama is a solid dependable course which will teach you a lot of valuable know-how which you will be able to apply again and again in your affiliate marketing business, both now and in the future.
